I cannot say enough positive things about Pete at Optimum K9. We rescued Marble a few years ago and have been literally petrified he might get loose because the few times he did he took off full blast running away from us and we struggled to get him back. He pulled us hard on a leash and his strength was too much to handle. Today he returned from a 14 day board and train with Pete and he’s a changed dog. He got out of the truck off leash and stayed right with us on the carport while we talked. He walked in a heel right down our street off leash and on leash he does not pull at all. We watched him come on command even with the distraction of our new puppy. As a dog owner of many years, I’ve never seen anything like it and I also felt so comfortable knowing Pete was taking him into his own home as one of his own and he became part of the family for 14 days! How awesome is that!!! We missed him so much while he was away but now I know he’s going to miss Pete and his family too! I can’t thank him enough for returning him to us a changed dog who can now enjoy life while understanding there are rules to live by also. We can’t wait to take him out on his first field trip when In the past we were embarrassed just to take him to the vet!!! If you need some help with your dog I highly recommend Optimum K9 and thank him for helping me realize I’m not a dog trainer but I can maintain a trained dog!!! And now he’s resting quietly as he’s exhausted after two full weeks of work!!

Highly recommend!! We did the 14 day board and stay for our 9 month old GSD, Floki. We just got him back today and Pete spent 2 hours with us going over everything he did and answered all our questions we had. We never trusted Floki off leash and would pull me. I am amazed with the results in just 14 days. Floki walks next to me with no pulling. I can remove the leash without fear of him running away, chasing animals. I put him in place and he will not leave unless I free him. I couldn’t be happier with the results. If you would have told me 3 months ago that we’d be able to take Jax outside without a leash, I would have told you that you were NUTS! Jax has always been my “baby” but he was totally unmanageable. Pete did an amazing job with our 10 month old 90 lb baby Axel. Axel was so hard to handle because of how big and playful he was. He would jump, lunge, play bite which hurt, we couldn’t walk him on a leash or control him when he saw a person or an animal. Axel would constantly take our granddaughter’s toys and be way too rambunctious around her, shes 3 and her brother was just born. So we were very scared of Axel hurting them. We didn’t think Pete was going to be able to control him but in the first two minutes of meeting Axel it was obvious that Pete was very capable and confident in his work! We felt very comfortable letting him training/take care of Axel. Pete kept us updated on Axel’s progress which was comforting. We got Axel back today and we are amazed by his transformation! Axel is a totally different dog! Pete took his time today with us, explained and showed how he trained Axel and also came into our house to see how Axel would react to certain behaviors he had before which was great. We are so grateful to Pete for training Axel and giving us the tools to continue teaching Axel and to be able to enjoy having Axel in our home. I would recommend Pete from K9 Optimum to everyone! Seriously a great experience!

We had our GSD puppy, Blu, trained. After the first round of training he’s a much better listener….when we call him he comes right away but most times it doesn’t even come to that. He sees us and comes over right away without even having to say anything…so that alone is night and day… He’s also A LOT calmer. I working on his commands for 5-7 mins and make him work for his meal before I give him his bowl. And actually other dog is learning too…he will copy whatever I tell Blu to do! We’re super pleased with the results from the training and will definitely continue on with round 2 of the training. Thanks Pete, we’ll see you again in a couple months!

Pete did an outstanding job with our dog Cooper. Initially we were reluctant to use the e-collar, but after one lesson with Pete we became supporters of this training method. Over several months and 8 or so 1 hour sessions our dog learned 6 very important commands; come, sit, heal, leave it, off, and quiet. Mastering these commands has enabled us to take Cooper off his leash when in open spaces allowing him to live a free life. Throughout the training Pete was patient and explained to us everything we needed to work on between lessons, he gave us the tools to work with Cooper. We also learned that the e-collar trains by rewarding not by punishing, if you wonder how, give Pete a call, you will be glad you did.

Pete did an amazing job with our bluetick coonhound. It has been a few days since he returned home and his time away really made a difference. I was highly impressed with what he learned in 2 weeks. I would highly recommend to anyone in need of dog training.

My wife and I brought our dog Cooper, a Cavapoo, to Pete, and it was one of the BEST decisions we’ve ever made. Our entire family is so impressed by his transformation. We’ve always loved Cooper’s happy-go-lucky personality, but we were absolutely exhausted by the end of the week from chasing him around the house, him pulling on the leash during walks, biting at random objects, and never coming when called, to name a few. After his two weeks with Pete, we were shocked by his responsiveness to commands. It was immediately clear that he was actually looking for direction, which was never previously the case. The guidance we received in order to continue that obedience was straightforward and easy to follow. Pete taught us how to use the e-collar the right way, that ensured Cooper’s safety and well-being. Cooper’s still his same happy-go-lucky self, but we no longer have to monitor his every move to make sure he’s staying out of trouble. Pete, his wife, and children treated him so well. We felt very comfortable leaving Cooper with them, knowing they were treating him just as we would want. From what we’ve seen so far, we would’ve paid twice the amount for these results. We would absolutely recommend Pete and would be happy to speak to anyone considering his training!

First I have to say, Pete Freaking ROCKS!!!!!! I want to Thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you have done with Josie and Giorgi, the manners, place training, food obedience have done wonders to these guys and calming of many situations. Josie the Lug, is great with everything and can I just say your skill to notice her want to please but knowledge that with her “growing pains” she needed more rest periods. We had the best experience with Pete and his company! Prior to finding Optimum K9 training we tried multiple other companies with little to no success. Pete took the time to come to our house, introduce himself, meet our dog Leo, and explain his method of training. It made us feel hopeful about the whole process!

Leo is an 85lb pitt-american bull dog- mastiff mix who, prior to training, was very excitable- jumping on anyway who walked into our house, barking at people and dogs walking by, and constantly lunging/barking uncontrollably at dogs and moving objects (bikes, scooters, etc…) on walks. His size and strength made him VERY hard for us to control. We purchased the 2 week board and train, and couldn’t be happier with the results!

Pete has a passion for what he does, is very personable and took care of Leo like he was his own. He sent videos and text’s throughout the 2 weeks to update us on Leo’s progress. When he returned Leo he made sure we understood how to implement the training. We went on a walk around our neighborhood and I was blown away by the difference in Leo’s demeanor and reactions. We HIGHLY recommend Optimum K9 Training and will be using Pete in the future when we get another dog!

After struggling with our HIGH prey driven German Shepherd for almost 2 years and after 18 months of looking for the right trainer, we found Pete!

After being told we’d have to rehome Luna by another trainer, and actually contemplating just that, we found Pete!

Pete is not all hype and false promises, he IS THE REAL DEAL!

His extensive knowledge and training has given him all of the skills to be an excellent trainer, but it’s his compassion and empathy that set him clearly apart from the rest.

Luna would pull excessively on the leash, lunge at cars, bark uncontrollably, and just had her way with us, but thanks to Pete’s board and train program all that has changed.

He has transformed our very wild yet loving Luna into a very manageable member of our family.

The cost of the program was minimal compared to the results that were achieved. He enabled us to keep our precious girl!

Pete did an outstanding job with our almost 2-year-old dog Jameson! Prior to Pete’s training, I had to use the Gentle Leader leash to maintain some control over him during our walks. He is super distractible and gets super excited when he sees other animals, especially other dogs. I am still shocked that I can now walk him without the Gentle Leader and without him pulling me down the street to try to meet other dogs. He now heels on command and walks with a very loose leash otherwise… it’s so nice and such a difference from before his stay with Pete. I finally feel like I have control over my dog!! I also loved that he stayed in Pete’s home with his family while he was being trained. Pete was also amazing at keeping us updated during his training with texts and videos. I would absolutely recommend Optimum K9 Training to anyone in need of dog training!!

Pete and the crew at Optimum K9 are the best. We got our Moose (great dane) as a rescue from a puppy factory. He had a lot of issues that we were slowing working through. From the time that we adopted him I started talking with Pete and he was able to give me some hints, tips and tricks to get Moose ready for the 2 week boot camp. For a 7mo puppy the change is amazing. He focuses as soon as you call his name and follows the commands given. Pete gives each dog their own personal touch and does an amazing job with these animals. He kept us updated with pictures, and videos throughout the training. He followed up with us for weeks after to ensure that we were doing what we needed to and to check on how Moose was. I couldn’t recommend Optimum K9 any higher. It is well worth the cost!

Pete has been a miracle worker for us. We have a 13 month old GSD named Tucker who knows basic commands and some tricks BUT we didn’t have control of the undesirable behaviors in everyday life. We had a session with Pete on Sunday where he helped us address Tucker’s issues with the vacuum, being off leash, excessively nipping me and his obsession with the cats. We have tried several other training techniques including e-collar since we brought him home but hadn’t found the right trainer to help us understand how to correct those everyday behaviors. I know it’s only be a day but this is the first time in 11 months that I’ve been able to work from home and have him out of his crate for the entire day. We’re confident in going out in the yard to play without our leash and run the vacuum so we can have a clean house! Lastly, we’re still working on the cat issue (as it was very severe) but are seeing vast improvement. We cannot thank Pete enough for not only taking time to come spend a few hours with us but also listen to what our frustrations were and help us correct them. We highly recommend Optimum K-9!

Pete did an excellent job with our puppy Ares! We just picked him up from puppy board and train and we mainly needed help with basic commands and teaching him how to walk on a leash. My dog was demonstrating extremely aggressive behavior toward another dog in our home. He spent board and train time with Pete and he’s like a new dog! Pete worked with him and now Si behaves in every way. It is easy to see how much his thought process has changed, and he’s making great decisions. Where he used to attack the other dog, he now avoids him. When the situation doesn’t allow him to keep his distance, he looks to me for guidance and has done great. Not only has the aggressive behavior been modified, he can now be off leash on our property and chooses to stay close by and responds to what is asked of him. Our dog Stella was a menace to society. People wouldn’t come to our house because they were afraid of being jumped on, bitten (love bites) or having their food stolen. She was also attacking our other dog and generally acting out. With a new baby in the house we were seriously considering re-homing her.

I reached out on Facebook to friends looking for recommendations on dog trainers. I was afraid to send my dog away to “boot camp” after hearing some horror stories on the news, and wanted some personal recommendations. A close friend recommended Optimum K9 Training. We attended a group training with Stella to check out the trainers. Within 5 minutes of walking in, Pete was able to get her to walk politely on a lead in an arena filled with other dogs. We were sold and signed up for the 2 week board and train program (we called it boot camp).

Stella has been home for a week now and we are more than impressed with the results. She is a much calmer dog, that understands her new rules and is easier to manage. Most importantly, she is still the happy dog that left as and loves showing off her new tricks. While she was gone Pete stayed in touch via text, phone and Facebook videos. Since she has been home he has followed up with us, even making a second trip out to the house to help train my husband and I.

This has been an fantastic experience and I couldn’t recommend Optimum K9 training more.

Pete had our dog Apollo for training for 2 weeks. The transformation is amazing. I rescued Apollo Malamute/Husky mix. Before the training Apollo didn’t listen, he had aggressive tendencies towards many things and sometimes he was just off the hook crazy wild. Since I have gotten Apollo back. He listens. He does what I tell him, he doesn’t jump up. He leaves things when I tell him and he is calm. The most amazing part for me is that now Apollo excepts affection and love when we pet him. He actually wants to be pet. Before he would bite or mouth at us when we tried to pet him. I’ll be honest. I was very scared Apollo wasn’t the right fit for my family.
